Numeracy

Numeracy is a Key focus area at Evanston Gardens Primary School. We intend to improve Numeracy outcomes for all students by:

• Collecting and analysing data to inform planning & programming.
• Regularly reviewing student progress for all students
• Providing opportunities for staff to engage in Training & Development.
• Increasing the use of ICT to support numeracy.
• Including numeracy in structured Play Program R-2.
• Promoting numeracy within the school community through newsletter articles and in assembly.

Literacy
Literacy is a Key focus area at Evanston Gardens Primary School. We intend to improve Literacy outcomes for all students by:

• Collecting and analysing data to inform planning & programming.
• Developing Individual learning plans for indigenous students.
• Placing a focus on Year 1 Early Intervention.
• Implementing a Focussed Literacy Block.
• Providing opportunities for staff to engage in Training & Development.
• Actively promote volunteers to help with reading and facilitate parent workshops.
• Continuing to promote and celebrate reading achievements throughout the school eg Rotary Readers, awards, Premiers Reading Challenge.
